Rottweilers. They burp, fart, and snarl like no-one's business. To some they inspire dread, no doubt by association with satanic shennanigans in The Omen, while to others they are the best pets you could ever hope for; loyal, dependable, while being suitably scary enough to deter the would-be miscreant from any thought of mischief.
Squadra Guzzista member Keith's 1983 V1000G5 is a bit like a Rottweiler in this respect and shares some of the above traits, with the possible exception that it won't shit on your patio!
V1000G5 Tech Spec - Squadra Guzzista
Moto Guzzi's G5 was introduced into the line up in 1978 as a "new" touring machine.
It was almost exactly the same as the V1000i-convert apart from the use of standard footpegs as opposed to floorboards and the fact it was fitted with a conventional manual gearbox.
This was the usual Guzzi item of the period and had five speeds, hence the denomionation G5 which stood for "cinque giri" or italian for "five gears".
I have ridden one of these outstanding bikes and have written a report which you may find here
Anyway, here is the technical file:

It seems like the G5 gets no love. I've wanted one for a while and I'm curious why so few people seem to have them. Are they relatively rare or do they posess flaws I'm not aware of? I probably see a dozen SP's for every one G5 on Craigslist and Ebay. A G5 set up exactly like the one below with a set of floorboards would meet my current Guzzi needs perfectly.
